Sondra Renee Henley Morris

Sondra is the eldest of 5 siblings born to the late Johnny Henley, Jr and Catherine Rushmore Henley on October 11th, 1960, in North Shore Hospital Manhasset NY. Raised by her late grandparents John and Sarah Henley. She attended Wheatley high school, Wheatley, NY. Sondra graduated in 1979. She received degrees, with Master’s in Education from CW Post in January 1994. Sondra taught Spanish at Hempstead Middle School until her health challenges. She then became a substitute teacher until her health declined.

Sondra always loved helping others her thirst for learning never wavered, she would visit the libraries in the area always looking for information she could share with her neighbors and people in the community. she called it her “Mission Work.”

in 1986 she meets her life partner Leslie Dean Morris they married July 22, 1989 “her husband” as she affectionately called him would spend a devoted 3 decades together.

Although their union did not bring them any children of their own “Aunt Sondra” loved by all the children she taught and encountered. They never forgot their trips to the pet store and going out with her to get treats. We will miss her dearly. Especially for her card giving and phone calls she never forgot birthdays or special occasions.

Baptized at an early age at Bethel Zion A.M.E Church in Westbury. Sondra loved the Lord. Although she was not affiliated with a church home, she loved watching service on TV and online since the pandemic.

She leaves to mourn her devoted husband Leslie D. Morris, brothers Dwayne(Pat) Henley, Johnny(Zina) Henley, Atarius (Cherry) Henley, sister Shirley Brown, Uncle Leroy Henley (AKA Uncle Mickey) father-in-law Roosevelt(Bertha) Morris, brother’s in law Gregory Morris, Chad Morris, sister’s in law Deborah (Robert) Carson, Bernadette (Wilbert deceased) Holloway, and ‘Kimberly Morris. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
