In Loving Memory
As we gather to remember the life of Rosemary Farrell, I would like to recall a few things that made her so special to so many. As far back as I can remember, Mom was always focused on family. Mom always remembered birthdays, anniversaries and graduations. Her calendar listed important dates for her grandchildren, her brother Bill, sister Helen and all her nieces and nephews. She constantly made sure I always had everything I needed for school, sports or anything else. Mom always encouraged me to do my best and pointed out there was always a next time when things did not go so well.
She welcomed Sue with love and open arms later in life – she loved her as her own. When Jay and Chris came along, she was in her glory as Granny. She was thrilled to see every milestone and achievement. As they grew, she was a dedicated and vocal fan at baseball, football and basketball games.
My Mom was also loved by many friends of her own and of ours. Many of our own friends and their children also called her “Granny”. Friends have pointed out to us what they loved the most about her: her love and zest for life, her generosity, her absolute loyalty, her fun antics, and her strength. Although many of these friends are unable to be here to celebrate her life, we know they are here in spirit.
Mom’s health declined in recent years, but her love of family and friends never wavered. Despite her own health issues, she always asked about and was concerned about what others were doing.
She set a wonderful example to her son on how to be a parent – deeply involved, caring and loving. May we remember her always as that loving, caring Mom, Granny, mother in law, sister, Aunt and friend.
