Rose Catherine Campanelli, 88, passed into eternal rest on Saturday September 10th, 2022.
She leaves behind her son Dan Campanelli and daughter-in-law Maureen of Patchogue, NY, her daughter Jennifer Barlow of Fitchburg MA, and her brothers Renato DiPentima (Pat) of Washington, D.C, Vincent DiPentima of Deerfield Beach FL, and John DiPentima (Dana) of Westbury, NY. Rose was dearly loved by her large extended family including grandchildren Jonathan Campanelli (Jennifer) of Farmingville, NY, Nicholas Campanelli of Davenport, FL, Angela Campanelli of Patchogue, NY, and Maxwell and Mae Barlow of Fitchburg, MA; great-grandchildren Jonathan and Joseph Campanelli; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. Rose was predeceased by her beloved husband John (2021), her son Victor Campanelli (2017), her brother Sylvester DiPentima (2018), brother-in-law Frank Campanelli (1988), and sisters-in-law Rose DiPentima (2012), Marie Campanelli (2015), and Linda DiPentima (2021).
Rose was born on November 25, 1933 in Jamaica, NY. She was raised in Floral Park, NY, and married John in January 1955. They raised their family in Bellerose, NY and retired to Middle Island in 2001.
Rose worked as Office Manager for many years at Prince Carpet in Bellerose. While the children were growing up, Rose was an active member of St. Gregory the Great Church and community in Bellerose. She volunteered as a coach for her daughter’s softball team, as a Cub Scout troop leader for her sons, and in St. Gregory’s School. She was a member of St. Gregory’s Rosary Society, performing service for the church. After retiring to Middle Island, Rose loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends. She enjoyed cooking for holiday gatherings, gardening, reading and playing Sudoku.
Friends and family are invited to visitation at Donohue Cecere Funeral Home in Westbury, NY on Thursday September 15th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Brigid’s Church in Westbury, N.Y. at 11am, followed by interment at Holy Rood Cemetery.
