Roger A. Poletti Sr.

POLETTI, Roger went to be with the Lord on June 26, 2019.  Residing in Wilmington, NC, formerly of Westbury, NY.  Roger was predeceased by his loving wife, Mildred, who passed away October 3, 2013.  Together Roger and Mildred had five sons; Roger, Louis, Terence, Kenneth and Christopher.  They also had four daughters-in-law; Marian, Cornelia, Dana and Shannon and nine grandchildren.

Roger was born on May 6, 1932.  In 1955, he graduated from the Maritime College in New York with a commission in the US Navy & Merchant Marine.  Roger and Mildred married later that year and he entered the Navy shortly thereafter.  His first duty was as Engineering Officer on a ship out to Seattle.  Next he was assigned to the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY where he taught the senior cadets Naval Law.  

Upon his release from the Navy, Roger joined Hazeltine Corp., a large defense company on Long Island.  He worked there for almost 25 years, his last position being that of Corporate Vice President.  Roger then formed "The Poletti Group", a trio of companies whose specialty was executive search and general placements.  He did volunteer work for various organizations and served on several Boards, including St. Francis Hospital and Dowling College.

In 1993, Mildred and Roger retired to Wilmington, North Carolina.  They kept busy with their grandchildren and were also very active with volunteer work at Immaculate Conception Church.  Mildred played golf and was active with her arts and crafts; golf and poker kept Roger busy as well.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 5th at 6:00 PM at St. Martha's Parish in Uniondale, NY.  Interment will be on Saturday, July 6th at 10:00 AM at Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery, Flushing, NY.
