Phyllis Wheatly Seabrook

 
Phyllis Seabrook was called home to be with the Lord on May 8th at the age of 99 years old. Kindness, patience, cheerfulness, thoughtfulness, steadfastness and unyielding optimism in the face of life’s struggles are just some of the many positive attributes that accurately described Phyllis. She always had a kind word and a smile, and her warmth touched all those she encountered.  Phyllis lived a long and fulfilling life in which she was a loving sister to 3 siblings, precious aunt to 10 nieces and nephews, a great-aunt and even a great-great aunt.
 
Her Faith played a central part in her life, she loved God's Word and was wholly committed to living a life for Christ. She continually prayed for others, testified of the things of God, her Bible always at the ready; and to the end she remained strong giving praise to her Lord.
 
For many years, Phyllis served as a secretary for NYC Board of Ed, a perfect position for her as she enjoyed, and was so proficient at, performing clerical duties. But even after retiring, she never put away her IBM Selectric typewriter which was indispensable to her as she used it to type her correspondence and envelopes for the numerous birthdays, wedding, anniversary, and special occasion cards that she regularly sent to her family and friends around the world. It was truly amazing how, even during the advanced stages of her life, she still kept track of her friends’ special milestones and never ceased reaching out to others this way; a testimony not just to her incredible memory but to her thoughtfulness and generous spirit. 
 
Phyllis was indeed much loved and will certainly be missed.  But we rejoice to know that she has fought the good fight and now can receive her eternal rest; fellowshipping in joy with all of her beloved family members and longtime friends who were already there to welcome her home!
