Dr Peter J. Rocco

Rocco, Peter John, Dr. of Chiropractic died peacefully at the age of 64 on May 22, 2019 at his home in East Northport where he lived for the past 32 years. Raised in Westbury, NY and the 2nd oldest of 5 children; the only son of Peter and Amelia Rocco.

Peter was a gentle soul, who loved and cherished his family. He was a renaissance man, a magician with a BBQ, one of the best joke tellers, a practical joker but the best kind. He had healing hands and always a kind word. His love of his wife, children, family, friends and pets was always a standard to emulate.

Peter was a graduate of Lehigh University with a BS in Biology and New York Chiropractic College with a Doctorate degree. Upon graduation in 1979 he opened his own practice in Hicksville where his healing hands helped many of his adored patients, until he retired in 2015.

Dr. Rocco was an active member of the Hicksville- Jericho Rotary Club for over 35 years. He held multiple leadership positions such as Secretary, Treasurer and President and ultimately earning a Paul Harris Fellowship Award. As president in 1986 Peter opened the door to inviting women to join what was once a male dominated club, which forever changed its dynamics.  Once again showing his true character of being open-minded and treating all equally.

He is mourned by his surviving wife Irene of 38 years, children Alyssa Marie and Peter John, his mother Amelia Rocco and sisters Karen Pezdek, Andrea, Janet and Pamela Rocco.

Visitation Wednesday, May 29th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, Thursday May 30th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Donohue Cecere Funeral Home, 290 Post Ave, Westbury. Mass of Christian burial at 9:45 am, Friday, May 31st, St. Brigid’s RC Church, 50 Post Avenue, Westbury NY. Laid to rest at St. Philip Neri Cemetery at 
5 Laurel Rd, East Northport, NY.
