Pauline Bernath

BERNATH, Pauline (nee Raia) of Bayside, NY, formerly of Queens Village, NY on June 11, 2018 at the age of 79. Beloved wife of the late Joseph. Cherished mother of Christine Patti of Huntington, NY and Philip Bernath of Centereach, NY. Fond sister of Josephine Ammenwerth and the late Joseph Raia. Loving grandmother of 4 granchildren.

Pauline was born in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph and Fannie Raia. She was raised in Ozone Park, NY with her siblings Josephine and Joseph. Pauline graduated from John Adams High School and married her husband Joseph at St. Mary Gate of Heaven Church in Ozone Park on May 25, 1957. The couple had two children; daughter Christine and son Philip. They raised their family in Queens Village, NY. Pauline and Joseph were married until his death on January 21, 1984.

Pauline worked in the insurance industry for over twenty years before retiring. She was a quick witted “A” type personality who never held anything back…she would say “whatever’s on her mind!". Pauline loved knitting and being at the beach reading a book. She loved to eat out and travel to different places, but also enjoyed cooking and entertaining. She will be missed by many.

Reposing at Donohue Cecere Funeral Home, 290 Post Ave., Westbury, NY 11590 on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Brigid’s RC Church, 50 Post Ave., Westbury on Friday at 9:45 AM. Interment following in St. John’s Cemetery, 80-01 Metropolitan Ave., Middle Village, NY.
