Patricia Bertorelli passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12, at 11PM EST at Bayshore Health Center here in New Jersey.
A native New Yorker, Patricia relocated to New Jersey during her years in retirement.
Patricia was a native of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, a community proud of their Italian heritage, while also remaining a proud United States citizen who made the freedom of voting a family priority. In her younger years, she was enthusiastic about ice skating, animal welfare and family, the latter two taking center stage for the rest of her life. Her proudest title in life was mother, as she often said; when she was no longer “Pat” and was Joseph and Lawrence’s mom, that was the role she always wanted.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Dominic and Mary (Colardi) Sinni and is survived by her loving sister Barbara, nephews Robert and Peter and countless great nephews and nieces.
For those in New Jersey who would like to visit, you are invited to Buckley Funeral Home (509 2nd Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ) between 4PM and 8PM Wednesday, March 14. Those in New York are invited to visit at Donohue Cecere Funeral Home (290 Post Avenue, Westbury, NY) between 4PM and 8PM Thursday, March 15, as well as for a 30-minute final viewing Friday, March 16 at 9AM. A funeral mass will be held at 10AM Friday, March 16 at Our Lady of Hope Church (534 Broadway, Carle Place, NY) with interment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery.
As you can imagine, Joe and Larry are navigating through great sadness at the loss of their mom, as are all of us who consider Pat a part of our own family. At the same time, there is great joy in knowing she has finally reunited with her beloved husband Lawrence after over 25 years apart. Definitely a bittersweet white light, for sure. We'd like to thank everyone for all the support, affection, and prayers you have offered throughout these last several months. Please join us in holding their hands as we say goodbyes are not forever and see you soon.
