Norma C. Henderson (née Klein), 94, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2022, at her home in Westbury, just three weeks shy of her 95th birthday. Norma was born in Queens, NY, on August 19, 1927, to Katherine and William Klein, claiming deep roots in New York City as a third-generation German-American. She married Joseph V. Henderson in 1947 and resided in Manhattan and Queens, where she raised four children, until relocating to Westbury, Long Island, in the late ‘70s.
While her life was met with considerable adversity, her Christian faith was steadfast and unwavering. She was a wellspring of strength, bolstered by her ability to find humor and laugh often in life. Norma adored animals and lovingly cared for many adopted pets throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening and homemaking, and kept up with reading, news, and crossword puzzles that kept her mind sharp through her final days. Above all, in her later years, she took great pride in and showed much affection toward her eight great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sons Mick (Linda) and Joseph T. (partner Hillary Siemsen) Henderson; five grandchildren (Chris, Lisa, Kerin, Jenny, and Tim); and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband (Joseph), daughters (Geri and Mazie), and countless animal companions who are eager to reunite with her on the other side of the bridge.
