MARY L. WOODS
Mary L. Woods, who is remembered by family and friends for her joyful, caring spirit, died peacefully Dec. 2 at home in Westbury. She was 88.
Family and faith were twin pillars in her life.
Mary was married for 55 years to her husband, William, who predeceased her in 2014. Their love and mutual devotion was a shining example to all they knew.
They were longtime parishioners of St. Brigid’s Church in Westbury, where Mary was well known for many years of devoted service at the parish thrift shop, The Attic, on Post Avenue, which she helped to found. She would encounter fellow volunteers and people she had assisted everywhere she went in Westbury.
Her deep faith in the Lord was bolstered by an active prayer life she often generously shared with others.
She was appropriately proud of the early years she spent working at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point.
Survivors include her son, John (Lynn), and her daughter, Donna Kruel (Richard), and five grandchildren, Sarah and Christopher Woods, and Sierra, Jacob and Olivia Kruel.
