Mary Lagnese

Mary Ann Lagnese, a lifelong resident of Westbury, New York, died April 27, 2020 at the age of 98.  Mary married the late Carmine J. Lagnese in 1945.  Mary is survived by her three children: Robert (late Florence) Lagnese, Louise (Ralph) Catapano and Christine (late Raymond) Reinheimer, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Mary was an active member of the Westbury community.  Until a few years ago, due to her age and declining heath, she vigorously participated in numerous activities at the Westbury Senior Center.  These activities included various positions on the Senior Center’s governing board.  She was enrolled in ceramics, sculpting and painting classes as well as many other crafting activities.  One of her paintings was awarded second place in a Nassau County Senior Art Show.  She loved to create beaded flowers and eagerly shared her beading skills with other seniors at the center.  Mary was also an active member of the Westbury Historical Society and shared her knowledge of Westbury history with students at some of the primary schools in the Westbury School District.

Mary Ann was well respected and loved by all who knew her.  The smiles and laughter she created will live on forever in our hearts.  She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and her community.
