August 17, 1966 ~ October 6, 2021 (age 55) 55 Years Old

Tribute

Laurie Ann Nash, of Levittown, N.Y., passed away peacefully on October 6, 2021, at the age of 55, in East Meadow, N.Y.

Laurie, the third child of four, was born on August 17,1966, in the Bronx, N.Y. to John Vincent Nash and Maureen Michelle Woods ( Costigan ) {deceased}.  At the age of 7, the family moved to Queens, N.Y., until she entered adulthood.  Graduating from Cortland University in 1989, she went on to obtain a Master’s Degree from New York University.

It was Laurie’s great pleasure to work daily with the Deaf, Hard Of Hearing and Hearing Communities alike with such organizations such asThe Lexington School / Center for the Deaf, Beth Israel Medical Center, Sorenson Communications and LaGuardia Community College’s Interpreter Education Program.  Her vast career also includes interpreting On and Off Broadway Shows and Shakespeare in the Park with Hands On, as well as a plethora of Community Interpreting work.  Although she made it her life’s work to be a very passionate, strong advocate for the Deaf, Hard Of Hearing and Children of Deaf Adults ( CODA) Communities and for the Interpreting Community, at large, nothing else could trump her life’s mission to be the best mother she could be to her son, the love of her life.

Laurie is lovingly remembered by her son: Christopher Ferolito, sister: Alison Kopczynski, brothers: Stephen Nash, John D. Nash, James Woods, Jeff Woods and father: John V. Nash.  The entirety of their respective families include: an aunt, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and countless very close friends.

Laurie’s beautiful smile, fun-loving, strong and generous spirit will never be forgotten.  Her absence here on Earth creates a tremendous void in the world; a presence to be greatly missed by so very many.  Her love and caring for each one of us will continue to live on in our hearts forever.

The family of Laurie Nash wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to Dr’s Christine Cardova and Marissa Barbaro, together with the care team at NYU Langone Medical Center for their expert care, support and guidance, throughout Laurie’s fight against Glioblastoma Brain Cancer.
