Joseph R. Tigue

TIGUE, Joseph R. of Westbury, NY passed away from COVID on December 21, 2020 at the age of 88. Born in Hughestown, PA, he was raised in Waterbury, CT. Loving husband of the late Barbara Pierce Tigue (nee Hale). Adored father of Melissa Pacchiana (Angelo), Elizabeth Tengwall (James) and Barbara Tigue. Fun grandfather of Kerrin Tengwall, Luke Pacchiana and Amanda Pacchiana. Devoted brother of Beatrice Kelley and Thomas Tigue. Predeceased by siblings Elizabeth Lozier and Michael Tigue Jr. Joe attended NYU as an English and business major. He worked as a financial editor for the Standard and Poors newsletter, The Outlook. He was president of the Salisbury Seniors, an ombudsman for Northwell Health Stern Family Center for Rehabilitation, a docent for Old Westbury Gardens and led hikes for the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference. He volunteered at St. Brigid Parish Outreach Food Pantry and NYU Winthrop. He gave support to cardiac patients through the Mended Hearts program. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Joe will be missed for his sense of humor, generosity and compassion. Due to COVID restrictions, burial will be held for immediate family at Pinelawn Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be sent to St. Brigid Outreach, 85 Post Ave. Westbury, NY 11590
