Irene R. Taylor

July 17, 1920 ~ November 3, 2020 (age 100) 100 Years Old

Tribute

Irene R. Taylor was born on July 17th in St. Louis, Missouri to Floyd and Pearl Rucker. She had a brother, James and a sister, Magalene. Irene was an honor student in high school and attained a Bachelor's degree and three Master's degrees in her lifetime. She worked in St. Louis for several years and was the first Black psychiatric social worker hired by the City of St. Louis. Irene wed Wardell James Taylor, Jr. and had three children ( Valerie, Michael, and Beverly). She lived in Westbury, NY for over 50 years and retired as a psychiatric social worker for the  NYC Board of Education. Irene loved to travel, enjoyed music, old movies, and planting her flowers. She was devoted to family and friends. Irene was called home by God and her husband on November 3, 2020. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
