Gloria Genevieve Gregory, nee Faul, nine days shy of her 97th birthday passed peacefully on January 8, 2021 surrounded by four of her devoted daughters. Born in Glen Cove, NY, Gloria was voted best dancer as a high school senior and was part of a local dance troupe for a time. She met her future husband on a blind date that began with Fred in a familiar place, working under the hood of his car. Frederick John Gregory (predeceased in 2012) and Gloria were married on March 18, 1945 and spent their honeymoon in San Antonio preparing for Dad’s discharge from the Army Air Corps at the close of WWII. They made their home in Carle Place after a few years in Williston Park. They were married for 67 glorious years.
Mom was a stay-at-home mom as she always had a baby to raise for the first 25 years of marriage. She is the beloved mother of Marjorie Eckstein (Howard), Genevieve Pandolf (Richard), Frederick Jr (Kathy), Joan Gute (Brad), Paul (Cheryl), Anne Lonegan (Thomas), Joseph (Diane), and Deanne Uschold (Robert); cherished grandmother of 17 (predeceased by Stefanie in 2018); loving great-grandmother of 13; fond neighbor of friends on Appletree Lane and in Carle Place and Westbury (especially her “ninth child,” Johnny Morrison, whom she loved very much).
Gloria was predeceased by her dear brother, Charles Faul (Lee), and cousin, Joan Michelsen (Edgar), and will be terribly missed by their children, grandchildren and great-children.
Gloria was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Hope Church in Carle Place and before that St Brigid Parish in Westbury. She was a lector, eucharistic minister, member of the Rosary Altar Society (including president). Gloria was a leader in His Spirit of Love Charismatic Community at St Brigid Parish for many years. She was an integral part of the Carle Place Frog Hollow Frolics as director, choreographer, and performer for various groups for more than 20 years.
Mom loved being with family and friends and her door was always open. She was a counselor, comforter, and confidant. She was a steadfast spiritual partner, often praying for anyone who asked for prayers and was known to light a candle or two! Mom will be forever in the hearts of the many people who loved her!!!
