Gloria Dochille

DOCHILLE, Gloria (nee Nici) of Westbury, NY formerly of Astoria, NY at home on August 3, 2018 at the age of 91.  Beloved wife of the late Dominic.  Cherished mother of Patricia (Frank) McCann of Levittown, NY and Rosemary (Scott) Strauss of Levittown, NY.  Loving grandmother of Michelle McCann, Frankie (Lindsay) McCann, Zachary (Kristen) Strauss, Kymberly (Kristien) Strauss, and Kevin Strauss.  Dear great-grandmother of Jacob McCann, Aubree Belfi, Dominic Strauss, and Wesley McCann. 

Gloria was born on June 3, 1927 in Astoria, NY to Nunziato and Maria Sarah (nee Congema) Nici, and was the only girl of 7 children.  She married the love of her life Dominic on October 5, 1957 in Queens, NY.  The family moved to Westbury, NY where they had 2 daughters, Patricia and Rosemary.  Gloria and Dominic were together until his death on April 11, 1969.  Gloria worked for State Farm Insurance and retired in 1995, and then made a career out of helping to raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her family was her everything.

Gloria was known to be one of the most selfless, thoughtful and kind people one could ever meet.  Her friends were family to her and her door was always open.  She also enjoyed spending time cooking and reading.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Reposing at Donohue Cecere Funeral Home, 290 Post Ave., Westbury, NY 11590 on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM & 7:00 - 9:00 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at St. Brigid’s RC Church, 50 Post Ave., Westbury, NY at 11:00 AM.  Interment following in Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmingdale, NY.
