Gayle Ann Eld

ELD, Gayle Ann (nee Graves), of Uniondale, NY, formerly of Rowland, PA and St. James, NY, on July 24, 2018 at the age of 78.  Loving wife of the late Carl.  Cherished mother of Terrie Szwed (Bruce), Carla Ledda, and Daniel Eld.  Dear grandmother of William Szwed (Rebecca), Job Szwed, James Szwed (Abigail), Bethany Ledda, Sarah Ledda, Ethan Ledda, Briana Eld and Caitlin Eld, and great-grandmother of Emily, Robert and Dario DeLeva, Efrain and Justus Fournier, and Lilia Szwed.  Fond sister of Janice Graves. 

Gayle was born on July 13, 1940 in Wilkinsburg, PA to Garland and Grace (nee Holsinger) Graves.  She was raised in Level Green, PA where she graduated from High School.  Gayle married her husband Carl B. Eld on March 5, 1959 in Pittsburgh, PA and moved to Long Island in 1961.  The couple had three children, Terrie, Carla and Daniel. 

Through the years, Gayle worked at a variety of jobs until, in 1998, they relocated to Pennsylvania.  In 2016, Gayle moved back to Long Island after the death of her husband Carl.  There, she resided with her daughter Terrie in Uniondale.  Gayle was an accomplished seamstress and she liked to play the piano; especially hymns and gospel songs.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.  Gayle will be missed by all who knew her.

Reposing at Donohue Cecere Funeral Home, 290 Post Ave., Westbury, NY 11590 on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM & 6:00 - 8:00 PM.  Religious service in the funeral home chapel at 7:00 PM.  Interment in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY on Thursday, August 2, 2018.
