Dorothy Florence Porta

Dorothy Florence Porta, 80, of Westbury NY, passed away on August 24, 2023. She was born on September 12, 1942, in Brooklyn NY, to the late Dorothy Nelson & George Cashin. Dorothy was preceded in death by her son Michael II, as well as her mother, father and three sisters, Carol, Diane & Robin.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Michael, and their daughter, Suzanne, as well as by her sister-in-law Marie, brother-in-law Gene Sr, nieces Janet, Denise & Danielle, and nephews Tommy, Michael Andrew, Gene Jr & Marc.

Dorothy was a proud homemaker who dedicated her life to family. She was a graduate of Pace University, who worked as a law clerk in Manhattan before opening a business called Gourmet Wagon Specialty Foods at Roosevelt Raceway Flea Market on Long Island. Later, she became a dedicated employee of family dentists Gene Caiafa Sr & Jr at Gentle Dental of Astoria.
 
Dorothy worshipped at Saint Brigid Catholic Church. In her free time, she most enjoyed reading, gardening, listening to music and laughing. Dorothy was also known for her generosity, as both a loyal friend and warm neighbor to many. 

At this time, memorial services will be determined at a later date. Dorothy's memory will be cherished forever by her loved ones.
