Donald E. Ennis, 82, of Jupiter, FL, departed from us on December 8, 2019, peacefully in his home after a courageous battle with his illnesses.
Don was born on October 1, 1937, to Mary (Monahan) Ennis and Patrick Ennis, in Queens, NY.
His father passed away when Don was 10 yrs old, leaving his mother, Mary, and his family to make hard life decisions. While attending Lawrence High School, Cedarhurst, NY, Don worked various jobs contributing to the support of the family. He excelled in basketball, table tennis and golf. He often boasted about winning the Caddy Championship.
With a 50+ year career at the Keystone Yacht Club, Woodsburg, NY, Don gained respect, enduring friendships and mentored many assistants.
Don met the Love of his life at the yacht club… Carol Natalie Knoll (aka “the best girl I ever married”) daughter of Frederick Knoll and Margaret (Jankowsky) Knoll. Together they have 4 daughters and 15 grandchildren.
They celebrated over 56 wonderful years together.
Boating was the core to most of his life experiences with his family and friends.
His passions were boating, cars, reading books, taking walks through any type of weather and dancing with his wife.
Don was a faithful member of the St Patrick’s RC Church, Jupiter, FL and often prayed while watching a beautiful sunset or sitting, overlooking the ocean.
His happiest times were spent with his family, whether on the boat, watching his grandchildren at sporting or competition events or simply sitting around the kitchen table joking, laughing and telling stories.
His eyes were crystal blue, his smile was wide, his posture was proud with Irish heritage, his handshake was firm and honest, his soul was gentle, his heart was loving, his presence was respected.
His favorite word was “Carol”.
Don was predeceased by his beloved grandchildren, Jake Henry Tremblay and Megan Elodie Tremblay
