OBITUARY
Daniel Nkansah was born on November 23, 1962, to Samuel Adjei Nkansah and Helina Aziati in Accra, Ghana. Daniel attended Winneba Secondary School in 1978 where he excelled in the General Certificate of Education. This allowed him to gain admission into the University of Ghana Legon Business Administration in 1981.
In 1981 he met Catherine Morton-Bruce at the age of 18. They dated for a little over a year before getting engaged. This engagement would prove to be a defining moment in their relationship and life to come as Daniel had to soon leave to pursue an education in the United States.
Daniel arrived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in January 1982 and then relocated to Fort Wayne Indiana where he attended Purdue University to study Business Administration. In January 1984 he moved to New York and attended York College, then Queens College where he obtained his Masters in Library Science.
On October 31st, 1992, Daniel married Catherine Morton-Bruce after 10 years of engagement. This was the happiest moment of his life being that while he was in the United States on a student visa, he was unable to travel back and forth to Ghana during their engagement. They would communicate during that time via handwritten letters which would then evolve to timed phone calls during any available moment.
They had their firstborn son Joshua Nkansah on August 24th 1994 while in Ghana. Following their move to the United States in January of 1997, they lived in Queens Village until May 1999 when they moved to their final home in Brentwood on Long Island. There they had their second and final son Caleb Nkansah who was born on March 21st, 2000.
Daniel worked for Queens Community Library formerly known as Queensborough Public Library and part time at the Brentwood Public Library. While at Queensborough Public Library he worked as a Children's Librarian, working his way up to the position of Coordinator of Children's Services at the Central Library in Jamaica Queens. There he worked until his retirement in October 2021 after 33 years of service.
He was called to his eternal home and on August 22, and now experiencing the beauty of God's Holiness.
