Cherished Mother & Beautiful Grandma

Anna Florence Marchese was born Anna Florence Pierno in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, in 1924 to Gaetano and Florence Pierno. Ann was the last survivor and is reunited with her five siblings (Jenny, Louis, Carmine, Edith, Michael, Matilda). She married  Louis Burdi in 1946 (deceased 1949) and Salvatore Marchese in 1953 (deceased 1988). Ann had one daughter, Patricia Gaffney (husband Peter), and her three grandsons Michael, Peter II (wife Caterina), and Patrick. Many nieces and nephews survive her.

Ann Marchese's family remembers her fondly as a wonderful mother, aunt, and grandmother with a great sense of humor. Ann was a seamstress and had a passion for knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint. She used to knit and sew outfits, needlepoint handbags and crochet booties and blankets. Ann was talented and taught others. She loved to bake and make pizza and desserts. Ann loved reading, watching her "programs"', dancing, and listening to music.   She told stories about how her father and brothers hosted live music sessions across the street from Fort Greene Park.

Ann was a loving, kind person who cared for and cherished her family. She was always smiling and making jokes, playing card games, winning bingo, doing puzzles, attending shows, getting her hair done at the beauty parlor and color coordinating her outfits. She was lovingly known as "B.G" (Beautiful Grandma) and was nicknamed "Tootsie" by her sisters. 

We loved her very much and will miss her dearly.
