Clifton L. Gardiner

   Clifton Lowell Gardiner was born on December 13, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York to Clifton W. Gardiner and Althia Gardiner. He was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 02, 2024.
   Clifton know as "Sonny" by his family began his education in the Westbury, NY Public Schools. He later attended the BOCES School. Cliff enjoyed traveling. He went to New Zealand and Australia for three weeks and brought back pictures and videos of the local people and the beautiful scenery. Clifton loved to keep up on current affairs and could discuss any issue in detail due to his widespread reading. He loved TV Soap Operas and knew the names of every actor.
   When the "Soaps" had an event in New York City, Cliff was one of the few men to go and take pictures with the stars. He enjoyed listening to all kinds of music: Blues, R&B, Rock and Roll, and had a beautiful singing voice. Cliff was fascinated with helicopters, so much so that he was twice given rides in helicopters by the Nassau County Police. He loved raising four dogs, especially his favorite Casey. Clifton can be described as a kind, out-going and friendly person. He would talk to anyone.
   Clifton was employed by the County of Nassau in the General Services Unit for twenty-four years. He received the Certificate of Appreciation in 2004 for completing twenty years of service. Cliff retired in 2008. While he worked for Nassau County he joined the employee baseball and bowling teams, where he was known as "Big Cliff". He also was a fan of hockey.
   Clifton leaves to cherish his loving memories one sister Carol J. Gardiner of Westbury, NY; four special cousins; Carolyn Story of Brooklyn, NY, George R. and Gloria Dixon of East Elmhurst, NY; Karen Moore of Garrardstown, West Virginia, and special niece Joanne Hoff of Philadelphia, PA; three great nephews; and four great nieces.
   He is preceded in death by his parents Clifton W. and Althia Gardiner, and one sister Geraldine Goodman. Clifton will be dearly missed.
